Together, we can save the ocean.

Despite its vastness, our ocean is threatened by the impacts of pollution, overfishing, and climate change. Today we see undeniable evidence of fisheries collapse, coral reef degradation, and marine dead zones. Yet a few areas of the ocean remain relatively unaltered by humans, and they are key to the health of the global ocean ecosystem. National Geographic’s Pristine Seas project is working to identify, survey, protect, and restore these last truly wild places in the ocean.

Since its launch in 2008, Pristine Seas has worked with key partners to help to protect 2.2 million square kilometers of the ocean. Your donation will help us conduct research expeditions to better understand pristine marine habitats and work with communities, governments, and partner organizations to establish marine reserves where ocean life can thrive for years to come.
